On this trip we travel through southern Morocco discovering a range of landscapes, from the vast Sahara Desert to the lush oases of the Draa Valley. We explore the commanding kasbahs and ksours of the Atlas Mountains, visit exotic Marrakech and ride camels to a nomad camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi.


ITINERARY


Day 1 Fly to Marrakech. Day 2 High Atlas Drive into the mountains and descend to the Tessaout Valley. Stay in the small village of Bou Trarar, at the entrance to the Mgoun Gorge. Day 3 High Atlas Walk in the Valley of the Roses and discover Berber villages perched on the southern slopes of the Atlas Mountains. Day 4 Todra Gorge Visit the dramatic canyons of the Gorge. Drive to Rissani in the Tafilalet oasis and on to the Sand Sea at Merzouga. Ride camels to the nomad camp in the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Day 5 Great Sahara Walk up the dunes to see the sun rise. Drive deeper into the desert past dry river beds and oases to the small village of Tafraout n’Ait Khabach. Day 6 Draa Valley Drive through the wilderness of the desert to reach the palm groves of the Draa Valley at Zagora. Day 7 Ait Ben Haddou Discover the ksours (fortified villages) of the Draa. Drive to Morocco’s most famous Kasbah, Ait Ben Haddou. Day 8 Marrakech Take the High Atlas pass of Tizi n’Tichka back to Marrakech. Discover the vibrant souks and celebrated Djemma El Fna Square.
