We cycle along the pretty back-roads, scenic trails and converted railways of Spain’s attractive Andalucia region. There is plenty of time to explore the Moorish architecture and plazas of Seville, Cordoba and Granada. Our route passes through mountain valleys, high plains and spectacular canyons.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Seville. Day 2 Seville A morning cycle tour and free afternoon to explore the beautiful city. Discover the 13th century palace, the Alcázar. Day 3 Cordoba Drive to Ecija. Take a converted railway bike trail to Cordoba. Enjoy an orientation tour and there is an optional visit to the remarkable Mezquita mosque – with a 16th Century cathedral built inside it! Day 4 Benalua cave hotel A scenic bike trail to the unique cave hotel on the northern flanks of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Day 5 High Plains and Canyons Cycle through the desert and canyons of the Hoya de Guadix region. Days 6/7 Granada Ride across high plains and downhill to Granada. Spend two days exploring this historic city; roam through the streets of the Moorish quarter, visit the cathedral, take a trip to the intricately decorated Alhambra Palace or relax at the Arabic Bath. Day 8 Drive to Seville. Fly to the UK.

MOORISH TRAILS WALKING IN ANDALUCIA

Join us for a week of walking in Andalucia. We explore an ancient network of trails and mule routes linking picturesque white-washed Moorish villages through a landscape of vineyards and olive groves. We hike along parts of the old ‘Silk Route’ to Granada and can visit the spectacular Alhambra Palace. Every evening we enjoy delicious local food and sample the region’s famous sweet wine.

Day 1 Fly to Malaga and drive to Canillas de Albaida. Day 2 Mule Trails Follow old mule paths to the village of Competa. Day 3 Old ‘Silk Route’ Travel by taxi to Puerto Collado and hike along an old silk route to Canillas. Day 4 Moorish Villages Trek through Holm oak woods to the village of Salares. Day 5 Granada A free day to relax. Optional visit to Granada and the Alhambra Palace. Day 6 Cerro Verde Hike along a steep-sided valley out of the village. Climb to the summit of Cerro Verde (1346m) and visit the Honeymaker’s Cave. Day 7 El Lucero Optional climb to the summit of El Lucero or take shorter walks in the area. Day 8 Fly to the UK.
