Machu Picchu THE INCA TRAIL
The Inca Trail in Peru is one of South America’s greatest trekking adventures. Join us for a truly unforgettable experience as we discover the ancient ‘Empire of the Sun’. We follow in the footsteps of the Incas as we hike along the famous trail to the magnificent mountain citadel of Machu Picchu.
We traverse the Andes: walking in the shadows of snow-capped peaks, through tropical cloud forest and over ‘Dead Woman’s Pass’ (4200m) – the highest point on the trek, to the ‘Lost City’. We visit the ruins of Llactapata, Sayaqmarka, Puyupatamarka and Winay-Wayna and admire awe-inspiring sunsets and sunrises as we camp beneath the stars.
Explore offers six tours which trek on the Inca Trail. Our trips range from 11 to 21 days, so you can combine your trek with visits to the region’s other highlights.
Book early so you don’t miss out! Only about 200 trekkers per day get permits to walk on the Inca Trail so popular dates sell out many months in advance.
