Join us on a journey to the legendary oasis of Siwa, through the endless dunes of the Great Sand Sea. Our journey follows in the footsteps of Alexander the Great, travelling through one of the wildest and most inhospitable places on earth. We take the ancient caravan route of Darb Siwa, stopping to explore oases and to camp in the shadow of the surreal rock forms of the White Desert.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Cairo. Day 2 El Alamein Drive to Marsa Matruh. Visit the battlefields and war cemeteries of El Alamein. Days 3/4 Siwa Visit the old town of Shali, cycle to the Mountain of the Dead and Cleopatra’s bath. Isolated from the outside world for centuries, Siwa has preserved a unique culture and language different from the other oases of Egypt’s Western Desert. Days 5/8 Desert Safari Head into the Great Sand Sea, following ancient trade routes and uncovering spectacular scenery and remote oases. Camp under the stars. Head northwards to Cairo. Day 9 Fly to the UK.

BEDOUIN TRAILS HIKING THROUGH EGYPT’S SINAI DESERT

Travel with us to the very heart of the Sinai Desert on this walking tour in Egypt. From sandstone valleys to granite mountains and fertile oases, the Sinai is a land of astonishing variety. As we walk from camp to camp with our camel caravan we begin to understand the allure of the desert.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Sharm el Sheikh. Drive to Dahab. Day 2 Mount Sinai Drive to St Catherine’s Monastery. Hike to the summit of Mt Sinai (2285m), where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Watch the sun set over the desert landscape before descending to the first camp. Days 3/6 Sinai trek Visit St. Catherine’s Monastery and the site of the burning bush before starting the trek through south-eastern Sinai. Camp ‘Bedouin-style’ under the starry night sky. Spend nights around the campfire, on which the friendly Bedouin team cook dinner, before telling stories of life in the desert. Day 7 Dahab Morning walk up the highest sand dune in the Sinai. Travel to Dahab; relax on the beach or snorkel in the warm waters of the Red Sea, famous for colourful coral and exotic fish. Day 8 Fly to the UK.
