Day 1 Fly to Sofia and tour the city. Day 2 Kriva Palanka Drive to Kriva Palanka. Visit the Monastery of St Joakim Osogovski in Macedonia. Day 3 Kratovo and Skopje Take a trip to the Roman towns of Kratovo and Skopje. Day 4 Matka Gorge Experience the natural wonder of Matka Gorge. Day 5 Drive through the Mavrovo National Park to Lake Ohrid and the Monastery of St Jovan Bigorski. Days 6/7 Ohrid Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has 2,400 years of Roman and Tsarist history. Day 8 Galicica and Pelister National Parks Explore the astonishing mountain landscape on foot, by bus and by boat. Day 9 Heraklea and Pella Drive from Macedonia to Pella (in Greece), birthplace of Alexander the Great. Days 10/11 Thessaloniki Tour the city and visit Vergina. Drive across the Halkidiki Peninsula and take a boat along the coast to Mt. Athos. Day 12 Thassos Ferry to Thassos Island. Visit Roman remains and medieval fortress. Day 13 Philippi Tour the ancient battleground of Philippi (in Bulgaria). Day 14 Rila Monastery Tour of Rila Monastery. Return to Sofia. Day 15 Fly to the UK.
