From the modern capital of Ankara to the ancient ruins of Ephesus we explore the very best of Turkey’s sights, whilst staying in comfortable hotels. We travel to the volcanic landscape of Cappadocia to discover the underground city of Kaymakli and explore the Goreme Valley with its ‘fairy chimneys’ and rock-cut houses. We also visit the white travertines of Pamukkale, walk around historic Istanbul and admire the spectacular scenery of the Turkish Coast.

ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Ankara. Day 2 Ankara Visit the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations. Travel to Cappadocia and explore the Rose Valley. Day 3 Cappadocia Discover the underground city of Kaymakli. Explore the ‘fairy chimneys’, rock-cut houses and churches of Goreme. Day 4 Konya Travel to the religious city of Konya and visit the Mevlana Museum. Days 5/6 Antalya Visit the Greco-Roman Theatre at Aspendos and the coastal site of Phaselis. Days 7/8 Dalyan Take a boat trip from Dalyan to the ancient city of Caunos. Day 9 Pamukkale Travel north to visit the white travertines of Pamukkale, known as the ‘frozen waterfall’. Day 10 Aphrodisias Visit the ruins of Aphrodisias. Continue to Selcuk. Day 11 Ephesus Explore the magnificent Greco-Roman seaport of Ephesus. Day 12 Pergamum and Troy Travel to the acropolis of Pergamum and visit the ruins of ancient Troy. Day 13 Gallipoli Cross the Dardanelles and explore the battlefields of Gallipoli. Travel to Istanbul. Day 14 Istanbul Explore the Sultanahmet district of old Istanbul including the Blue Mosque and Topkapi Palace. The afternoon is free to explore further or take a boat trip on the Bosphorus. Day 15 Fly to the UK.

Come with us to Turkey as we explore many of the country’s highlights and experience local culture. Travelling by public transport we visit the ‘fairy chimneys’ of Cappadocia, the famous Roman city of Ephesus and the ancient harbour town of Kas. We also take a boat trip through the Dalyan reed beds to Iztuzu Beach, stroll through the olive groves in Sirince and hike along ‘The Lycian Way’.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Antalya. Day 2 Antalya Tour the ‘Old Town’. Optional visit to Antalya Museum. Days 3/4 Whirling Dervishes Visit the Mevlana (Whirling Dervish) Museum in Konya. Days 5/6 Cappadocia Walk through the ‘fairy chimneys’ to the Goreme Open Air Museum. Guided tour of the rock churches and frescoes. Optional hike to Uchisar ‘castle’. Days 7/8 Lake Egirdir Stroll around Green Island. Take a guided tour of the town, including the 13th Century medrese and mosque. Day 9 Ephesus Explore the iconic city. The afternoon is free to explore the ancient town of Selcuk: including the Basilica of St John, the Mosque of Isa Bay and the ruins of the Temple of Artemis. Day 10 Sirince Take a local minibus to this pretty village. Stroll through vineyards and olive groves to Selcuk. Days 11/12 Iztuzu Beach Visit the ancient city of Caunus. Take a boat ride through the reeds to the golden beach of Iztuzu, a loggerhead turtle nesting site. Day 13 Lycian Way Walk part of the Lycian Way, Turkey’s first marked long-distance walk. Day 14 Kas Free day: optional visit to the Greek island of Meis or sea kayak around the sunken city of Kekova. Day 15 Travel to Antalya. Fly to the UK.
