ond-placed St Philip’s requiring six wins from the 16 games for the champi onship. The first game was an
indication of things to come as Tony Bush and Sheila Perry failed to take any of five game points. Damian Evans and Julie
Pym, and Mark Perry and Liz Maskell, won a mixed doubles each to keep Clitheroe’s hopes alive. Two further ladies’ dou
bles wins from Lisa Fielding and Perry, and Pym and Maskell, left the men need ing two wins from the last four games, but they were unable to win a single game, leaving Clitheroe having to be satisfied with promotion. • Club sessions continue

team beat Blackburn Northern B 4-1. The first pairing of
Andrew Moore and Richard Lambert droppe- donly six games in their ^ two rubbers, while second string Mathew Cuynes and Gerry Breese won a tight three-setter in their opening contest, before succumbing to the Black burn first pairing in their second match. Mixed doubles winners
THE Derek Lord Mixed Doubles Bowling tour nament was resumed and played to a conclusion on Saturday at Whalley Bowling Club. Blackburn duo Vinnie O’Donnell and Eileen
Pye emerged victorious after beating Hyndburn pairing Pat Singleton and Gerry Yorke in the final. The winners also won the event in 2002. The day was blessed with lovely sunny weath
er, and the spectators were treated to excellent bowling throughout the competition. RESULTS

eventwith qualifying rounds on Saturday, August 21st at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., and on Satur day, August 28th at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. The final day for this is Saturday, September 4th at 10- 30 a.m. There are only 21 vacancies left in this presti
gious competition, and again, contact Mavis Hancock for further details. Last but not least is the Althams Mixed Pairs
competition, with qualifying rounds on Sunday, October 10th and Sunday, October 17th at 10-30 a.m. and 1-30 p.m. on both dates. The final 16 pairs then play on Sunday, October
