School to take to the skies!
by Vivien Meath
A VILLAGE pr im a ry school is to have its second aeroplane day tomorrow. The hall at Bolton-by- Bowland CE School will be turned into an aeroplane using desks and chairs. As children pass through
passport control, they will be escorted to their seats. School staff will be cabin crew and tour operators, tak
ing the children in groups to three different areas where they will "visit" Jamaica, Denmark and Alaska. Lunch will be served
aboard the "aircraft". A similar event three years
ago was a huge success and they are hoping for the same again. Next Thursday, the school
will be opening its doors to friends, neighbours, parents and any visitors who would like to see the new exten

6-30 p.m., the Bishop of Bradford, the Rt Rev. David James, will be officiating by opening the new buildings. The children are to give a short entertainment.

THE first of several projects to be undertak en in Clitheroe to celebrate 100 years of Rotary Service worldwide was unveiled this week. The gardens of Clitheroe Health Centre,
in Railway View, have received a makeover, with all the new plants and appropriate materials supplied free by Hansons Nursery, Barrow, and the work done by members of the Rotary Club of Clitheroe under the guid
ance of Rotarian Bill Barker, their own resi dent
expert. This is a sensory garden and all the plants have been carefully chosen, so that those using the health centre will bene fit and, hopefully, appreciate the different scents in addition to the visual effects. Our picture shows the handover by
Rotary president Jim Duxbury to Dr Anne Huson and Sister Geldard, of the health cen tre, with Rotarian Bill Barker front right, (s)
