New house causes upset for neighbours

Chapel Lane and surrounding area of the village have labelled the new development a “monstrosity”. They argue it is too large for the plot it

A RIBBLE VALLEY dance school has raised £1,400 for charity after a sell-out perfor mance of "Musical Mayhem" at the Grand Cinema in York Street. About 180 Ribble Valley pupils from the
Angela Westwell School of Dance in Moor Lane, Clitheroe, took part in the show. They were aged as young as three up to 17,
and performed numbers from many musicals. A total of £1,000 was presented to the
North West group of the Haemophilia Soci ety, via clinical nurse specialist Alex Shaw. Also, £400 was donated to the Make A
Wish Children’s Charity - which paid for a new printer for The Royal Manchester Chil dren’s Hospital. (C100704/1)

plans. Some of the residents have already put
pen to paper about the development in the letters page of the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times, whilst others are in the process of complaining to Ribble Valley Borough Council’s planning department and their local MP Nigel Evans. A previous set of plans submitted by the
applicant, Mr and Mrs M. Woods, for the plot adjacent to Pickering Croft, Chapel Lane, were refused by members of Ribble
Valley Borough Council’s planning com mittee.
However, the applicants went back with amended plans to produce a smaller
scheme and these were then passed by the committee. Ribble Valley Borough Council’s devel opment control manager, Mr John
Macholc, said: “The building has been inspected and although it projects nearer the highway than the approved plans, the height and overall dimensions are in accor dance with the consent.
"Whereas I note some of the concerns
regarding the building and recognise that design is a subjective matter I am satisfied that upon completion the building will fit in with the local built environment."
