to comment on the opinions expressed in your columns last week. Following traffic problems at the event last


year and unacceptable disruption to the neighbouring residents, I contacted PC Tony Walsh, the Community-Beat Manager for assistance, which I received in abundance and was most grateful for. Having put out the cones to ease the flow of traffic, the police were duty bound to enforce the restrictions. Clitheroe Wolves' parents were asked to park a t Edisford School to ease congestion, because the Roefield car park is simply not big enough for our purposes. I t does not go down well with visitors that


they have to pay for parking, but because we can't segregate them from other users of the tennis facilities, swimming pool and leisure centre, there is no obvious alternative unless we were able to use the land on the opposite side of the road next to the church. I can't confirm your figure for the charges, but I can't argue against your assumption that the council certainly profited from the event. The pay and display car park has always


been a bone of contention for footballers on the leisure centre car park, because swim-
