Long-term clinical test In a long-term continuous use test for 28 days, we examined whether the torula yeast polysaccharide improves stratum corneum moisture content, texture improvement (kime), and skin lightness. In the study, an emulsion containing 1.5%


torula yeast polysaccharide was used as the test sample. Twenty subjects (female, average age 43.7 years) applied 0.8g of the test sample twice a day, morning and evening, to their full faces, and various skin measurements were taken before and 28 days after the start of the study. Evaluation was performed after washing


the face and acclimatization for 20 minutes in a constant temperature and humidity chamber (room temperature 22 ± 2°C, humidity 50 ± 10%). As a result, stratum corneum water content


increased significantly by approximately 1.2 times. The replica method was used to confirm the effect of improving texture, and the texture volume ratio increased significantly by approximately 1.3-fold after the test (Figure 4A and 4B). Some readers may not be familiar with kime,


a Japanese word to describe beautiful skin so let us explain a little. Kime skin texture refers to the fine triangular ridge patterns on the surface of the skin. Beautiful skin surface is made from orderly triangles. Proof of beautiful skin is in tiny and shallow


wedges with a plump crest. Orderly skin texture is essential to produce a beautiful skin surface. In addition, skin brightness was also significantly increased, likely due to the improvement in skin texture.


Hair care applications Cuticle damage protection from UV rays Human black hair (Burelux: BS-B3A) was shampooed twice. It was then applied with 0.5% torula yeast polysaccharide solution or water and dried with a hair dryer. After repeating this process five times, water was applied and UV irradiation (UV-B, 25 J/cm2

Improvement of damaged hair Damaged black human hair was prepared by treating the hair with a 1:1:1 mixture of acetone, isopropyl alcohol, ethanol, and water for one day and night, followed by treatment with 1% SDS (40°C for 30 minutes) and bleaching with a commercial hair bleaching agent. After shampooing and towel-drying the

damaged hair, a 1% torula yeast polysaccharide solution was sprayed 10 times onto the whole bundle of hair and dried with a hair dryer. Then, the treated hair was acclimatized


by resting for 20 minutes at a temperature of 24.5°C and 60% humidity. Observation of the hair after resting showed that the water-applied hair bundles became spread out over time. On the other hand, the sample sprayed


with 1% torula yeast polysaccharide aqueous solution suppressed hair spreading. In addition, the styling of the hair, especially at the ends, was markedly improved (Figure 5B). Damaged hair was shampooed and dried


with a hair dryer, then sprayed five times with 1% torula yeast polysaccharide aqueous solution, mainly on the hair ends, and dried with a hair dryer. The treated hair bundles were fixed so that they curled moderately and observed for hair shininess. The results showed that hair bundles to
