Provital unveils Triplobiome biotechnology platform

Provital has unleashed Triplobiome, a biotech platform that uses plant endophytes to produce new natural active ingredients. Endophytes are symbiotic

microorganisms dwelling within plants with the ability to synthesize bioactive phytochemicals, offering a sustainable alternative while mitigating plant exploitation. The Spanish company says

the technology has allowed it to develop the first so-called ‘ecosystem ingredient’, which is

derived from isolating endophytic yeast species Kwoniella mangroviensis from the bark of cork oak (Quercus suber). The skincare ingredient, it adds,

takes the protective power of its symbiotic provenance to provide the skin with the capacity to adapt, survive, and protect itself. The active not only shields

against environmental pollutants but also fortifies the microbiome barrier and reinforces lipid barrier integrity, ensuring optimal moisture

CLR reveals cherimoya skin- brain benefits

CLR has revealed test results for its AnnonaSense CLR (INI: Annona Cherimola Fruit Extract) active ingredient, which it says shows a perceivable improvement in sleep quality and skin appearance while reducing stress. The German maker claims the study shows

it is first cosmetic active ingredient with real clinical proof for positively influencing the entire skin-brain feedback loop. To assess whether AnnonaSense CLR can

really make a difference for the consumer, a new study was conducted by CLR on a total of 117 volunteers with sensitive skin and/or a stressful life (e.g. healthcare workers). Part of the volunteers applied a cream

containing the active ingredient; another part of the volunteers applied the same formulation with a placebo; and a third part applied the placebo and combined this with a facial massage which was expected to have a large impact on skin and wellbeing. “It perceivably improves the look and

comfort of skin and it reduces psychological stress and improves quality of sleep,” said a CLR spokeswoman. “Importantly, AnnonaSense CLR reduces the

production of cortisol inside the body and, lastly and making this loop complete, it acts against the negative effects of systemic cortisol of skin by improving skin health,” she added. The natural and

upcycled active ingredient is obtained from Annona cherimola, common name cherimoya, an edible fruit originating from South America.

retention and epidermal function, says Provital. “The compounds from the initial

endophytic extract of K. mangroviensis exhibit benefits like antimicrobial, antioxidant or collagen degradation inhibiting properties, and some are recognized plant growth promoters,” said Provital. “Thus, the restructuring effect of

the first ‘ecosystem’ ingredient on the skin results from transferring a natural endophyte-protective system.”
