Here’s SEAT’s debutante in the suddenly burgeoning compact crossover class. Think of it as an Ibiza on stilts. Except it looks far more impressive than that phrase might suggest, as it shares a lot of its SUV-like design with the larger SEAT Ateca. Saying that, it drives just like the Ibiza hatchback, which is to say it’s enjoyable to steer and highly accomplished, whether confi ned to the city or cruising up and down the motorway. It is best to think of it as a rugged-looking small hatch rather than an off -roader, but that’s standard in the segment and SEAT off ers a wide range of engines, transmissions and trim levels.
SEAT Mii
The Mii is SEAT’s smallest car, and it’s one of a set of triplets from the Volkswagen Group that also includes the Skoda Citigo and Volkswagen up!. There’s little to diff erentiate these models other than price, and the SEAT does come in at the cheaper end of the spectrum. Available in three- or fi ve-door body styles, the Spanish version is available with just one engine, a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol unit that produces a modest 75hp. It has suffi cient performance for a car of this size, while the Mii’s boxy shape maximises interior space. Buyers can add some features like a leather steering wheel and electric windows and choose from a selection of alloy wheel designs. Bright colours suit the Mii best and overall it’s a reasonably fun car to drive that shouldn’t incur high running costs.
