Fiat Fullback
Now that commercial vehicle sales are buoyant again, everyone wants a pickup truck in their line-up. Fiat joined forces with Mitsubishi for its creation and, in eff ect, the Fullback is a rebadged Mitsubishi L200. The Fiat is available solely as a double cab body, in LX and SX specifi cation grades. Buyers can choose from 150- or 180hp versions of the same core 2.4-litre diesel engine and the more powerful unit can be had with an automatic transmission, too. All use four-wheel drive and a sportier/more rugged looking Cross model is in the pipeline. It’s a good workhorse.

Fiat Qubo
The Fiat Qubo is a curious mix of supermini and MPV, but it’s a rather useful car all the same for small families and businesses. Twin sliding rear doors make it a cinch to get child seats in and out, regardless of where you park, and the Qubo is great at nipping around town in terms of size. Shame there’s no petrol engine option though. Also, while the huge tailgate acts as a shelter from the rain, it requires a lot of space behind the car to open, which isn’t ideal in a city, and the boot within isn’t as big as you’d think. Not an obvious choice for many buyers, but likeable all the same.
Fiat Doblo
Sliding doors are one of the big selling points of Fiat’s relatively unknown Doblo, a compact MPV based on the underpinnings of the Italian company’s small commercial vehicle off ering. Those van roots mean a large usable space inside and plenty of practical features, though it also means an awkward looking shape on the outside and road manners that are a cut below average. Still, it’s comfortable and the all-diesel line-up is relatively economical. Shame that the emissions are so high, though, as the motor tax will put many off .
