Honda HR-V
Honda’s small SUV provides a surprising amount of interior space, and is one of the roomiest models in its crowded segment. This is helped by the fact the fuel tank is located under the rear seats, so legroom is generous wherever you sit. The 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine has high emissions, but it’s a cracking little engine that suits the car well and is ideal for those sticking to an urban commute. For those doing higher mileage, the 1.6-litre diesel should result in infrequent stops at the fuel pump. In terms of handling, the HR-V is sharp and well-balanced. Its lower centre of gravity helps in the bends and its manual transmission has a slick gearchange.
Honda NSX
The Honda NSX is a supercar that exploits the latest in electric and hybrid technology to deliver incredible performance. Along with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine it has three (yes, THREE) electric motors and a nine-speed automatic transmission. That all adds up to about 581hp, which is sent to all four wheels. And

while some might expect this set-up to lead to an anodyne, arcade game-like experience from behind the wheel, Honda has actually managed to make the NSX hugely engaging and fun to drive. There’s a catch, of course, and not just the small two-seat cabin: you’ll need nigh-on €300,000 to buy one of these beauties.
