OUR PICK OF THE RANGE AMG GT S Coupe
AMG GT Not that long ago, the AMG GT was a single model, a two-seat coupe with a biturbo 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine under the bonnet and performance that very much put it into the ‘sports car’ category. Now, all that is still true, but there’s a whole range of versions to choose from and an open-topped Roadster as well. The entry-level GT is followed up by the GT S, then the GT C and fi nally (for now…) the range- topping GT R, packed with technology to make it even more capable on the track. Power outputs vary from 476hp to 585hp, so none are slow. A spectacular car.
Mercedes-Benz X-Class
The newest model in the Mercedes range isn’t a car at all, but actually the company’s fi rst ever pickup truck, the X-Class. And while some of the entry-level ‘Pure’ models may be bought for serious work, it’s expected that the X-Class will appeal as much to buyers that plan to use it for work and home life, in place of an SUV, competing head-on with the Volkswagen Amarok. Like that, the X-Class is not cheap, but it looks great and is more refi ned than the Nissan Navara it borrows its underpinnings from.
