Evolution for Making Cosmetics Italy

Natural solutions with calcium carbonate

Making Cosmetics Italy attracted 2,388 unique industry professionals last edition in November, an increase of 17%, with an additional 800 exhibitors who were registered over the two days.

For the 2018 edition which is to be held on 21-22 November, six new companies have already reserved their stand for this coming November: Croda, Farmalabor, Evonik, Innospec, Pipeline and Zschimmer & Schwarz Italiana. Already over 1,700

square meters have been assigned, and this comes at a time when the Italian cosmetic market finished 2017 with positive performance figures of a 1% growth on internal sales and 9% growth on export; confirming the strength of the Made-in-Italy brand. This November, Making Cosmetics will launch in-vitality: an area dedicated to food development technologists and companies interested in creating health-functional- nutraceutical-foods and supplements.

In addition, over a dozen companies will be showcasing their innovations and

technologies at the Red Carpet, which gives visitors an opportunity to view the latest and most innovative products on the market.

PERSONAL CARE EUROPE

At this year’s in-cosmetics Global, Omya will highlight innovative ingredients that fulfil emerging consumer needs and anticipate the demands of tomorrow. The company’s core products are the Omyacare range of natural, pure white minerals with several mastered particle sizes, Omyascrub for scrubbing applications, Omyaskin for decorative cosmetics and Omyadent functional particles for toothpaste applications. A distribution portfolio with a broad spectrum of natural colour pigments and additives rounds off the offering. Several application examples will illustrate the

multiple ways in which calcium carbonate ingredients can create a new generation of holistic all-round product

UK distribution agreement

ProTec Ingredia, supplier of active and speciality ingredients to the UK personal care market, became the Innovacos distributor for the UK and Ireland from 22 February.

Based in New Jersey, US, Innovacos designs and manufactures innovative cosmetic ingredients to fulfil the needs of formulators in their

quest to develop sophisticated products. The range of ingredients developed at Innovacos, Active and Formulience, covers all cosmetic applications and targets a myriad of biological mechanisms supporting skin health and appearance, as well as formulation texture and functionality. This allows

formulators and cosmetic professionals to meet the requirements of the continuously growing awareness of modern customers. Sales director, Kevin Cousins,

said: “We’re excited to begin our new partnership with Innovacos, whose innovative range perfectly complements our already impressive portfolio of products.”

Second skin effect with new ingredient

Based on the concept of the skin’s barrier function, Dub Estoline from Stéarinerie Dubois is derived from castor oil, resulting in a new- generation film-forming active ingredient, conceived like a breathing second skin, both functional and pleasurable. Its ‘cocooning’ effect provides thorough protection against the effects of pollution and other external stress factors that exacerbate the signs of premature ageing.

This multifunctional ester is especially useful for improving the sensory profile and

effectiveness of skin care products, but also for developing hair care, makeup and sun care formulas with superior qualities.

In its natural state, Dub Estoline Castor oil.

has a luscious, golden, honey- like look. It immediately evokes the possibility of a skin care syrup, especially because it can be incorporated in a formula at very high doses – with no sticky feel. Dub Estoline makes it possible to reinvent the cutaneous barrier effect with excellent comfort and no heavy feel. The skin is instantly protected and softened, the hair is naturally coated with no added silicones, and makeup is enhanced with a skin care effect.

solutions. One of these is sustainable soap bars that contain up to ten per cent calcium carbonate. As well as maintaining the weight of the soap bar in a smaller bar volume, Omyacare particles offer natural mechanical cleaning functionality. Additionally, their high brightness allows formulators to eliminate titanium dioxide, a substance that is becoming increasingly avoided due to concerns that nanoparticles of it may be harmful to human health. As the Omyacare production process consumes very little energy, the ingredient reduces the carbon footprint of the end product, too.
