Ditch 7 is suitable for Water Voles. Despite this it is very overgrown at the eastern end with tall grasses and herbs resulting in no open water. The channel is heavily silted throughout. Water depth is <0.3m at the eastern end but becomes deeper as the channel progresses west. At the western end the channel is >1m deep.

Ditch 9 is suitable for Water Voles. The bank are suitable for burrowing and there is a variety of vegetation (tall herbs and grass with occasional scrub patches) for cover and foraging. The northern section of the ditch past the junction with ditch 10 has had the vegetation cut short.
