Other large ruderals are occasionally present including Arctium lappa (Greater Burdock) and Rubus fruticosus agg. (Bramble). Forming an understory beneath the canopy of tall ruderal species and at the edges of these areas there are several small annual and smaller ruderal species including Anagallis arvensis ssp. arvensis (Scarlet Pimpernel), Anchusa arvensis (Bugloss), Anisantha sterilis (Barren Brome) and Mercurialis annua (Annual Mercury). Where the vegetated cliff face meets the shingle there are scattered individuals of Glaucium flavum (Yellow Horned-poppy).
Target Note 251d. A sandy, 30 m high cliff face. Vegetation of the top 20 m is rabbit grazed. It comprises large areas dominated by a mixture of rosette herb species such as Echium vulgare (Viper's-bugloss), Erodium cicutarium (Common Stork's-bill) and Plantago coronopus (Buck's-horn Plantain)
Target Note 252. An area of Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore ) woodland on the cliff face.
Target Note 254. An area of grassland similar to the top 20 m of the cliff face vegetation of Target Note 251d.
Target Note 255. Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore) dominated woodland with occasional Castanea sativa (Sweet Chestnut) and rare Quercus cerris (Turkey Oak). The canopy height reaches 10 m and the field-layer is dominated by Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 256. Broadleaved plantation of Castanea sativa (Sweet Chestnut), Populus alba (White Poplar), Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) and Tamarix gallica (Tamarisk) with very scattered Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine). Many Populus alba (White Poplar) suckers are present and the field-layer is Plantago lanceolata (Ribwort Plantain).
Target Note 257. A line of 13 m tall Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine).
Target Note 258. A defunct, gappy Prunus domestica (Wild Plum) hedge with a 1 m deep, 0.5 m wide dry ditch. The field layer is predominantly dense Rubus fruticosus agg. (Bramble) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle) growth.
