Target Note 166. A broadleaved plantation of Fraxinus excelsior (Ash) with self-sown Alnus glutinosa (Alder) to a height of 8 m. Occasional Sambucus nigra (Elder) shrubs occur throughout the woodland. The field-layer is dominated by dense Urtica dioica (Common Nettle) growth.
Target Note 167. Line of mature Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) approximately 12 m tall on a 2.5 m high slope. Occasional shrubs of 2 m tall Sambucus nigra (Elder) shrubs occur throughout and the field-layer is dominated by ruderal species such as Arctium minus (Lesser Burdock), Arrhenatherum elatius (False Oat-grass), Chenopodium album (Fat-hen), Heracleum sphondylium (Hogweed) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 168. An area or scrub comprising Cornus sanguinea (Dogwood), Prunus spinosa (Blackthorn) and Sambucus nigra (Elder) with an area of Pteridium aquilinum (Bracken) towards the southern end.
Target Note 169. Semi-improved neutral grassland with a large area dominated by Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 170. Line of Fraxinus excelsior (Ash) and Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) trees becoming a Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) and Sambucus nigra (Elder) hedge at its eastern end.
Target Note 171. Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) hedge with occasional Sambucus nigra (Elder) and Rubus fruticosus agg. (Bramble).
Target Note 171a. An ornamental hedge of Acer campestre (Field Maple) infront of a house.
Target Note 172. Strip of semi-natural Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) woodland with occasional Ulmus species (an Elm). No field layer was present.
Target Note 173. Mixed mature plantation woodland strip comprising Castanea sativa (Sweet Chestnut), Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn), Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine) and Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak). The field layer comprises ruderal species including Arctium minus (Lesser Burdock), Ballota nigra (Black Horehound) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
