with occasional patched of Carex acutiformis (Lesser Pond-sedge). Open water is present in 4 m wide channel through the Phragmites australis (Common Reed).
Target Note 301. A 5 m wide ditch dominated by Phragmites australis (Common Reed). Wether the ditch contained water or not could not be established.
Target Note 302. Broadleaved plantation woodland dominated by Castanea sativa (Sweet Chestnut) with a canopy height of 20 m on a 20° slope. Pinus sylvestris (Scots Pine) and Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) occur occasionally. The Sambucus nigra (Elder) and Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) shrub-layer varies from 2 to 5 m in height. The sparse field-layer comprises common herbs such as Glechoma hederacea, Silene dioica (Red Campion) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 303. A patch of Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) and Salix caprea (Goat Willow) scrub.
Target Note 304. A semi-improved neutral field containing Arrhenatherum elatius (False Oat-grass), Holcus lanatus (Yorkshire-fog), Hypochaeris radicata (Cat’s-ear) and Taraxacum sect. Ruderalia (Common Dandelion). The sward is dense with a height of 15 cm.
Target Note 305. A Carex cf. acutiformis (Lesser Pond-sedge) dominated swamp with Phragmites australis (Common Reed) dominating the wetter margins. A 15 m high Salix alba (White Willow) tree occurs in the centre. .
Target Note 305a. A large ditch approximately 10m across with marginal vegetation dominante by Phragmites australis (Common Reed) with occasional Schoenoplectus tabernaemontani (Grey Club-rush) and Epilobium hirsutum (Great Willowherb). In areas of open water the aquatic vegetation is dominated by the Schedule 9 listed Elodea canadensis (Canadian Waterweed).
Target Note 306. A recently sown field that appears to have had the same vegetation as Target Note 305.
Target Note 308. An island formed from two 4 m wide drainage ditches dominated by Phragmites australis (Common Reed). Large 20 m tall Salix alba (White Willow) trees are present at the edges of the island. The surrounding channels are very slow flowing with margins dominated by Phragmites australis (Common Reed).
