Target Note 175. Corylus avellana (Hazel) and Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) hedge to 4 m in height and 3 m deep with a 1 m deep ditch. The shrub-layer comprises Prunus laurocerasus (Cherry Laurel) and Ulmus species (an Elm) with Hedera helix (Ivy) growing throughout. The ground-layer is bare earth. Towards the woodland edge herbs increase in frequency and include Brachypodium sylvaticum (False Brome), Geranium robertianum (Herb-Robert), Humulus lupulus (Hop) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 178. Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) 4 m in height and 2 m deep with Fraxinus excelsior (Ash) and Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) standards. A 1 m deep ditch is present throughout with flowing water with a depth of 5 cm over a silt and mud bed. No aquatic vegetation was present.
Target Note 179. A ditch 1.5 m deep with an unknown water depth. The bankside vegetation is very dense comprising predominantly herbaceous species with occasional shrubs of Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn).
Target Note 180. A swathe of Pteridium aquilinum (Bracken) interdigitating with ruderal vegetation dominated by Cirsium arvense (Creeping Thistle) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle). Occasional semi-mature Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak) trees are present.
