Target Note 19. A slow-flowing river about 8-10 m wide at water-level with 1 m high banks. The river supports a fringe of marginal vegetation including Phalaris arundinacea (Reed Canary-grass), Sparganium erectum (Branched Bur-reed) and Typha latifolia (Bulrush) together with some emergent Sagittaria sagittifolia (Arrowhead) and aquatic Oenanthe cf. aquatica (Fine-leaved Water-dropwort) and cf. Nymphaea alba (White Water-lily).
Target Note 20. A stand of planted Salix alba (White Willow) trees.
Target Note 21. A shallow, temporary pond in a floodplain meadow marked by a stand of Phalaris arundinacea (Reed Canary-grass).
Target Note 22. A slow-flowing stream about 1-2 m wide. It is locally dominated by Apium nodiflorum (Fool’s Water-cress) with bank vegetation comprising rough grasses and tall-ruderal herbs.
Target Note 23. A mesotrophic grassland compring a good mix of fine leaved grasses such as Festuca rubra (Red Fescue) and mesotrophic herbs including Ophrys apifera (Bee Orchid), Orobanche minor (Common Broomrape) and Potentilla reptans (Creeping Cinquefoil).
Target Note 24. An overgrown hedge of Prunus spinosa (Blackthorn) and Sambucus nigra (Elder).
Target Note 25. A continuation of the stream in Target Note 22, however shading by the surrounding woodland has resulted in there being nor aquatic or marginal vegetation.
Target Note 26. Tall ruderal herbs on former arable land dominated by Cirsium arvense (Creeping Thistle) and Senecio jacobaea (Common Ragwort).
Target Note 27. Scrubby, plantation woodland along the north side of the stream described in Target Note 22 comprising species such as Acer platanoides (Norway Maple), Fraxinus excelsior (Ash) and Prunus avium (Wild Cherry).
Target Note 28. Grassland of unknown origin, which appears to have a short, fine sward containing lots of Centaurea nigra (Common Knapweed).
