• A few marshy streams and shallow ditches support species-poor stands of the tall sedges Carex acutiformis (Lesser Pond-sedge) or Carex riparia (Greater Pond-sedge), referable to the NVC types S7 Carex acutiformis swamp and S6 Carex riparia swamp, respectively.
• Elodea canadensis (Canadian Waterweed) is the only aquatic species present in the ditch at Target Note 306a which is A15 Elodea canadensis community.
• Floating mats of Lemna minor (Common Duckweed) recorded in a few wet ditches are the A2 Lemna minor community.
3.7 Semi-urban habitats
For the most part urban habitats present little to no botanical interest. At Woodbridge in an area defined by Target Note 191 there is a large population of the nationally scarce Crassula tillaea (Mossy Stonecrop) and Trifolium suffocatum (Suffocated Clover). These small herbs favour disturbed areas. The area covered by Target Note 191 is used as a storage area for the highways commission and so suffers from regular, patchy disturbance which is ideal for these two species. These species would likely thrive post-development, given their preference for disturbed soils, but would depend on the survival of viable populations during construction. A species list is included for this area in Table 8.17. Species list for Ephemeral/short perenial vegetation recorded at Target Note 191.
