Target Note 342. Swamp vegetation dominated by Carex acutiformis (Lesser Pond- sedge) associated species include Angelica sylvestris (Wild Angelica), Caltha palustris (Marsh-marigold) and Carex paniculata (Greater Tussock-sedge).
Target Note 343. A drain between Target Notes 342 and 344. It is well vegetated and approximately 30 cm wide. The drain is un-managed to the extent that it is mostly filled with mud and silt however it was flowing with a depth of 2 cm. The vegetation includes species typical of swamp habitats including Angelica sylvestris (Wild Angelica), Caltha palustris (Marsh-marigold), Epilobium palustre (Marsh Willowherb) and Mentha aquatica (Water Mint).
Target Note 344. Swamp vegetation similar to Target Note 342.
Target Note 345. A line of diffuse scrub comprising Corylus avellana (Hazel), Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn), Prunus spinosa (Blackthorn) and Sambucus nigra (Elder) with a 20 m tall oak standard. The scrub follows the line of a damp drain approximately 20 cm deep filled with leaf litter.
Target Note 346. Semi-improved neutral grassland including Agrostis capillaris (Common Bent) and Festuca rubra (Red Fescue) with associated mesotrophic herb species including Carex hirta (Hairy Sedge), Glechoma hederacea (Ground-ivy) and Veronica chamaedrys (Germander Speedwell).
Target Note 346 a. A Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) dominated hedgerow 3 m in height.
Target Note 346 b. A Corylus avellana (Hazel) dominated hedge with occasional Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) and Quercus robur (Pedunculate Oak). The field- layer is referable to the NVC type OV24 Urtica dioica-Galium aparine community.
Target Note 346 c. Defunct Ulmus procera (English Elm) hedge with occasional Sambucus nigra (Elder).
Target Note 346 d. Crataegus monogyna (Hawthorn) dominated hedge with a ruderal dominated field-layer containing Dactylis glomerata (Cock’s-foot) and Urtica dioica (Common Nettle).
Target Note 346 e. A hedge broadly similar to Target Note 346d.
