wealthy society and on rich individuals.
Sitting in Zagreb the whole summer, I was tying to think of some way out, some way
to find a solution that would satisfy my curiosity, my interest in art, my enjoying art,
and fulfilling or matching my ideas about art.
As I’m sitting in this Institute for fifteen years and due to the inadequate cultural
system in the country it is getting smaller and smaller. We are the constantly having
bigger and bigger problems of how to survive as an organization, still not being
integrated into the system of local cultural life.
Local context of visual arts in Croatia is also shrinking, and it is getting
institutionally smaller and smaller, there was no institution established over 20
years in the field, we are all stepping backwards and again more backwards, I’m not
sure that I’m willing to stay in the field of contemporary art much longer if nothing
changes. Frustration in everyday life is just getting stronger and professional level of
operating in culture is blocked on the whole Croatian art scene. If someone tells you
it is different, he must have a special reason to do so.
I was trying to think for myself, from my currently still proactive position, where to
go, what to do and where to search for something that would provoke, wake me up,
show something new. All the time I was having in mind my recent encounter with
explicit detest of wide range of art.
Then, still walking around the city, I found something - after all!
SESSION 3 / 3. OTURUM / JANKA VUKMIR 109
yapmad›currency1›m›zdan emin decurrency1ilim.
kurum yoktu ve biz hepimiz devaml› geri ad›m at›yoruz. Durumda herhangi bir
decurrency1ifliklik olmad›currency1› takdirde, çacurrency1dafl sanat alan›nda daha uzun süre kalmak
istedicurrency1imden emin decurrency1ilim.
