20.4 Comparing OS Maps with Aerial Photographs
OS maps and aerial photographs each have unique ways to display the physical landscape. The aerial photograph and the OS map shown in figure 5 are of the same area. As we see, both have different advantages when it comes to examining an area.
All OS maps are drawn to a single scale. This means we can calculate distance on them. Vertical photographs are to scale but oblique photographs are not.
