Discuss the process and the effects of mechanical, chemical and biological weathering on the landscape
Describe how the physical landscape of the Burren has attracted tourism to this region.
8.1 The Landscape
Our landscape did not always look as it does today. We know that millions of years ago our mountains were much higher than they are now. Over time, these mountains were worn down. Our landscape is dynamic. This means that it is always changing.
Imagine laying a new pathway – think of how smooth and flat it would be. Then think forward 10 years … how does your pathway look now?
Being creative
Think for two minutes about the differences you see in these two photos. Then, in pairs, discuss how the road has changed. What may have caused these changes? Prepare to share your thoughts with the class.
