There are three types of population pyramid: expansive , stationary and constrictive . Expansive
Stationary
Used to describe populations that are young and growing
Look like a typical ‘pyramid’, with a broad base and narrow top
Usually associated with slowly developing countries
Used to describe populations that are not growing
High life expectancy and low birth rate
Narrow towards the top Usually associated with developed countries
Constrictive
Used to describe populations that are becoming old and shrinking
Low birth rate Can look like beehives Usually associated with developed countries
