When looking at OS maps in Chapter 7, we learned that the location of towns has been influenced by: 1. The presence of flat or gently sloping land 2. The meeting of transport routes 3. Bridging points on rivers 4. The coast.
We can also look out for these factors on aerial photographs.
Examine this aerial photograph of Ennis, Co. Clare. Remembering the four factors listed above, offer three explanations as to why the town of Ennis developed where it has.
