T e fi rst listening extract, from a lecture, looks at the key concepts of acute care provision and gives a brief overview of the history of acute care; the accompanying exercises develop note-taking skills and recognition of common academic phrases. T e second listening extract is from a short seminar in which students discuss possible improvements to the acute care system.
