Sample Answer (Ordinary Level) a.
Name of character: Title of novel: Author:
Kasienka
The Weight of Water Sarah Crossan
b. I really liked the character of Kasienka because she faces a lot of challenges after arriving in England and deals with them really well. She is brave and strong. She and her mother are abandoned by her father, and she then arrives in a strange country with a strange language and is bullied at school. It’s hard to deal with one of those problems and she deals with all of them. It shows she is strong.
A key moment that really shows she is strong is when she fi nds out where her father is and goes to meet him, alone. When she gets to his house, she is met by his new partner Melanie and her half- sister Briony. It’s a really big shock for her and her father doesn’t explain it very well when he shows up. She is strong in this scene because she bravely asks him if he will come see her mother. She is really angry at her father but she asks him anyway.
