NEWS EXERCISE UPDATE
A new study has shown that older people who have stronger muscles are less likely to be hospitalised. The study involved over 3,000 people aged 70-80 who were followed up for an average of 4.7 years. Weak strength, poor function and low muscle density were associated with a greater risk of hospitalisation.
Flying to fitness
A new toning and cardio class created by Cirque du Soleil performers for Reebok – Jukari Fit to Fly. Jukari – which means ‘play’ in Sicilian – is a set of exercises carried out using a FlySet. This is basically a trapeze suspended from the ceiling at chest height, which rotates 360o
. A combination of cardio and toning
exercises are carried out on the circus-inspired bar to define and improve muscle tone and work core muscles.
