Welcome

Welcome to the first issue of the REPs journal under the new sportEX tenure. We are honoured and delighted that the Mayor’s commissioner for sport, Kate Hoey MP, has written a guest editorial for this inaugural issue - a significant acknowledgement that those directing the future of sport and physical activity recognise the seamless inter- relationship between sport, physical activity and health.

For those of you who haven’t already come across sportEX, we specialise in producing material for continuing professional education aimed at medical and health professionals working in the fields of sports medicine and physical activity for health. Our bigger picture goal is through the relationships and reputation we have developed writing for these audiences over the last 10 years, to nurture and strengthen the bridges between the exercise and health professions.

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to those of you who have advertised in this first sportEX-driven REPs journal. I appreciate that many of you don’t know me or sportEX and therefore may not have known what to expect; I hope your leap of faith has been well rewarded! As most of you can imagine, it’s a costly business printing and posting 30,000 copies of a publication of this quality and we couldn’t do it without our advertisers! We have also taken a very open and transparent (and generally rather different) approach to the advertising and your acceptance – and in fact encouragement – of this new approach is greatly appreciated and hasn’t gone unnoticed!

Finally readers, I would really love your feedback on this issue. I have posted a very short questionnaire at this link if you can spare 2 minutes http://bit.ly/REPsQ+A1

I hope you enjoy the new REPs magazine – more to come in December 2009! Tor Davies, publisher
