REPS NEWS Working Save the date!
Following the success of this year’s conventions the REPs team is busy booking top
presenters and speakers for the 2011 programme of events.
The first convention of the year will be held in Wales on Friday 18th February, with a South East convention in May, and Scotland in June before the National convention, which will, as in previous years, be held during Leisure Industry Week in September. This will be followed by a Northern convention in November.
Full details of the conventions, including seminars, workshops
and final dates and venues will be available from the REPs website, the Journal and the REPs monthly e-zine. To make sure you’re kept up to date with this electronic bulletin let the REPs office have your latest contact details including your email address.
A REPs member who went to the Northern convention said: “The Convention was great, very well organised and informative with some good materials to utilise.” Two other members were so impressed with the South East convention in May they booked to go to the Northern one, driving to Doncaster for the day!
together for health
REPs has joined the Fitness Industry Association (FIA) as part of its Joint Consultative Forum (JCF) – a group dedicated to working with six of the Royal Medical Colleges in order to promote exercise as a way of increasing good health and managing disease, and writing new standards for exercise referral schemes..
The JCF is chaired by the FIA’s Chief Medical Officer Dr John Searle and includes representatives from the Royal College of General Practitioners, the Royal College of Physicians, the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, the Faculty of Public Health, the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, training providers, exercise professionals and REPS Registrar Jean-Ann Marnoch.
The REPs Registrar commented: “As fitness professionals we know our expertise can make a very real difference to people’s health. REPs is therefore delighted to be part of this historic group, joining our two sectors in a bid to improve the health of the nation, on behalf of its members.”
