Welcome
According to Roman writer Pubillius Syrus, “A good reputation is more valuable than money” – and while my retail therapy habit could always do with extra funding, I tend to agree. In business it can be easy to forge ahead with what you think is the right thing without too much heed to what message this sends.
At REPs we take a lot of time and trouble to listen to you, our members, through regular correspondence, our annual customer satisfaction surveys and face-to- face feedback, especially at our conventions.
But running REPs isn’t just about doing the right thing by our members, it’s also about raising the reputation of fitness professionals, ensuring their knowledge and expertise is recognised.

For the first time REPs has taken part in a SkillsActive survey to measure awareness and perceptions of the Register amongst employers and stakeholders (see page 12 for more). We’re also concerned with what organisations outside our industry think about our work including the medical profession (see Guest interview on page 4).
With membership levels reaching 30,000 REPs is truly a national database but at the risk of sounding like a James Bond baddie we also have our eye on Europe and the rest of the world! I recently met with other Registrars (many of whom have based their organisations on the REPs model) to see how we can continue to work together. Collectively we represent 60,000 fitness professionals, which as well as being an incredible privilege is also a huge responsibility.
We know our reputation is often seen as a guarantee of your collective professionalism and knowledge, and we aim to protect that reputation carefully.
