Apply to be part of the Olympic Village Gym Team at London 2012
The process of application is now open for REPs members to become part of the Technogym Team at the Olympic Village gym during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
Technogym, the Official Supplier of Fitness Equipment to London 2012, is responsible for the management of the Olympic Village Gym and other gym locations during the two events. Technogym is also partnering with Team GB and Paralympics GB to support ‘Our Greatest Team of 900 athletes 60 million strong’ – the largest ever GB Team and with the whole nation behind the team in this once in a lifetime event on home soil.
A number of places are now available to REPs members (level 2 & 3) to join the Technogym Team and staff these gyms. Comprehensive training which carries CPD points will be given prior to the event.
Tax amnesty launched for instructors
Fitness instructors have until to March 31st 2012 to declare any extra income they have earned up to April 2010.
Under Her Majesty’s Revenue and Custom’s ‘Tax Catch Up Plan’ fitness professionals can make the most of a special tax amnesty for any undeclared liabilities.
The ‘Tax Catch Up Plan’ is aimed at those who currently profit from private tuition and instruction, either as a main or secondary income, on which correct tax has not been paid. Those affected now have until the end of March to declare any outstanding tax liabilities up to April 5th 2010 and to pay what they owe.
HMRC said those who come forward ahead of the deadline would receive the “best possible terms”, which is “unlikely” to amount to more than a fifth of any outstanding tax debts.
However, HMRC warned that anyone who does not come forward by March 31st 2012 would incur “much higher penalties”, while criminal proceedings could also be pursued.
Marian Wilson, head of HMRC campaigns, said: “We are making it as easy as possible for people offering tuition and coaching to use this unique opportunity to put their tax affairs in order by making a full disclosure, and benefit from the best possible terms.” Details: www.hmrc.gov.uk
