Welcome
It’s hard to believe just one year ago I was writing this in anticipation of the REPs 10th Anniversary – what a year it’s been!

Working with SkillsActive, we’re going to be launching a review of all REPs categories, the standards that underpin them, as well as the working practices in the industry. This was last done four years ago and resulted in the current REPs membership structure. The consultation process will involve Employers, Training Providers and Individuals and we hope as many of you as possible will take part. As a growing industry we are aware that we need to keep up-to-date with: changes in the way you work, the skills you are required to have in your daily work and the skills you need to have to progress your careers.
As someone who has worked in the fitness industry for the more than 30 years I’d like to see the current trend for people leaving the industry reversed, and more Instructors embracing the opportunities for a long-standing career.

We’ve had celebrations, our first three-day convention, secured more media coverage than we’ve ever had before, moved offices, launched the REPs Health & Fitness app and activepassport™, and re-designed our website all in 12 months!
Next on the agenda for me, and the rest of the team, is taking REPs to the next level. I’ve written before about how I’d like the number of Registered Fitness Professionals to grow beyond the 65 per cent of the industry that we currently represent. This is something we’re going to be driving forward in 2013.
