Welcome

After a very cold winter, I think spring has finally sprung and I for one am loving the better weather. It’s certainly made my Sunday cycle a whole lot easier (pedalling against the wind to go down hill is no fun!), and a lot more enjoyable too.

I’ve also been cheered by seeing a lot more REPs logos when I’m out and about. I love walking into a gym and seeing our door-stickers and wall plaques. One of our part-time staff went for another part-time role with an employer in the industry and was delighted to see that the interview panel were all wearing their REPs badges!

I’m very proud of REPs and the status it has within the fitness industry. One of my goals for this coming year is to broaden this reputation amongst other sectors too. I recently did a presentation to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy as part of the work going on at the moment with the Fitness Industry Association, to define the boundaries between the work that physios and fitness instructors do in order to facilitate a closer working relationship between them.

We’ve also kicked off this year’s series of REPs’ conferences in Wales. Following feedback we’ve changed the format and are now delighted to bring you taster sessions from the many REPs categories including some of the medical conditions covered by level four specialist instructor, and there are lots more practical sessions with ideas to take away. We also love the chance to meet our members in person and look forward to catching up with more of you at the rest of our 2011 events.
