funnel structure, characterized by intertwined layers of pores, facilitated a three times faster absorption rate compared to the absorption rates of oil and water.

Conclusion Algica is a natural and sustainable personal care ingredient designed to meet various needs. With five distinct scientific backed claims bundled into one powerful versatile ingredient it represents a new standard for multifunctional skin care. Independent clinical studies have underlined the diverse benefits of the ingredient. At concentrations of 0.1%, it has demonstrated its potential to enhance the SPF of sunscreen formulations, working in harmony with both inorganic and organic UV filters. In vitro studies have shown an average SPF

boost of 23%. At the same inclusion level, it can block 24%-50% of air pollutants such as Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and Particulate Matter (PM) from penetrating the skin, as evidenced by two in vivo studies. The moisturizing effect of the ingredient

is comparable to that of medium molecular weight hyaluronic acid, and its cleansing effect is at least 10 times more powerful and 3 times faster than a commonly used cleansing ingredient. Furthermore, it holds promise for encapsulation and controlled release of other valuable active ingredients. In addition to its effectiveness, it is

sustainable and ocean-safe. The circular production process ensures that nutrient-rich water that is considered as wastewater from food industries can be used and recycled, and transferred back into the food value chain. Moreover, algae serve as natural carbon

capturers. This multi-functional ingredient supports the industry’s move towards greater environmental responsibility and sustainability while adding value to personal care products.
