If you sail a keelboat, secure the boat alongside the pontoon using two sets of ropes. The ropes from the bow and stern will hold the boat close to the pontoon and are called breast ropes. The others are called springs and they stop the boat moving fore and aft. Tie some fenders at the widest part of the boat to stop it rubbing against the pontoon.
