Wheel the boat into the water until it floats off its trolley, undoing the rope securing the boat to the trolley handle. With someone holding the boat by its bow, allow it to swing round to point into the wind. Pull the trolley clear of the water and park it out of the way of other slipway users.
Getting Away from the Shore 离岸
Your RYA Recognised Training Centre will have a safe open sailing area where you can learn your basic skills. Check the wind direction before you sail away – the jib is a useful indicator. Once sailing it is all too easy to focus inside the boat, so remember to keep a good lookout at all times.
Your instructor may tow you out to the sailing area or you might paddle or row away from the shore if a launching area is constricted or the wind is blowing directly onto the shore, making it difficult to sail off. In a single-handed dinghy you can sit on the tiller extension to steer while you paddle.
