This exciting journey across Sri Lanka offers a little bit of everything for all the family: we explore dense jungles, discover Buddhist relics and enjoy a fun-filled few days on beautiful sandy beaches. Elephant safaris, tractor tours and game drives are all part of the adventure in this tropical paradise known as ‘Buddha’s Island’.
ITINERARY
Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Colombo. Drive to Negombo. Day 3 Elephants Enjoy an elephant-back safari at Habarana. Days 4/5 Sky Fortress Climb the impressive Lion Rock to Sigiriya’s Sky Fortress. Visit local villages on a unique tractor tour and discover Polonnaruwa’s medieval city by bike. Day 6 Buddhist grottoes Explore the amazing artwork in the Dambulla Caves. Travel to Kandy. Day 7 Kandy Visit the spiritual Temple of the Tooth and pretty botanical gardens. Take a rickshaw ride. Day 8 Tea plantation Visit a tea estate and factory in the highlands. Days 9/10 Udawalawe National Park Visit the elephant
orphanage to meet Serendip, Explore’s sponsored elephant. Enjoy a game drive in the Park. Days 11/12 Unawatuna Beach Free time to enjoy the sparkling waters and sandy beaches. There is the option to go whale-watching between December and April. Day 13 Turtles Explore Galle Fort and visit a turtle hatchery. Day 14 Fly to the UK.
