EVEREST ADVENTURE 14 DAYS – EVEREST AND THE SHERPA HOMELAND


In the shadow of the world’s highest mountain we follow part of the classic route to Everest Base Camp. We trek through the heart of Sherpa homelands following the Dudh Kosi River to the cultural centre of Namche Bazaar and beyond to the hill-top monastery at Thyangboche (3876m). We also roam the narrow streets of Kathmandu and explore its ancient temples.


ITINERARY


Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Kathmandu. Day 3 Kathmandu Have a trek briefing and enjoy a guided tour of the old city including Asan Bazaar and Durbar Square. Day 4 Lukla Fly to the starting point of the trek. Meet the Sherpa guides and hike along the Dudh Kosi River to Phakding. Days 5/6 Namche Bazaar Enter Everest National Park and climb to Namche Bazaar. Climb to the Everest View Lodge in the morning and acclimatise in the Sherpa town in the afternoon. Day 7 Thame Continue along the trail to Thame (3800m), home to


many Everest record breakers. Visit monasteries along the route. Day 8 Khumjung Trek to the largest village in the Khumbu region. Visit a monastery said to display a Yeti scalp. Day 9 Thyangboche Reach the highest point of the trek (3867m) for views of mightly Mount Everest. Days 10/11 Lukla Return to Lukla. Optional visit to Sir Edmund Hillary’s school enroute. Days 12/13 Kathmandu Fly back to the capital. Free time to relax or visit the Pashupatinath Temple and Bodnath stupa. Day 14 Fly to the UK.
