Enjoy this fascinating introduction to northern India as we search for the Bengal Tiger in its natural habitat and visit the magnificent Taj Mahal at sunrise. We also ride elephants to a hilltop fortress, explore villages in bullock-carts and take a camel safari across sand dunes. This varied holiday takes us from the bustling streets of Delhi, to the desert plains of Pushkar.


ITINERARY


Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Delhi. Explore the Old and New quarters by rickshaw. Day 3 Taj Mahal Take a local train to Agra and visit its impressive fort. Explore the magnificent Taj Mahal at sunrise the following morning. Day 4 Rickshaw ride Travel on rickshaws through the Keoladeo National Park – home to 300 species of birds including the rare Siberian Crane. Day 5 Tigers Take a game drive in search of the Bengal Tiger, jackals and sloth bears in Ranthambore National Park, one of India’s most successful conservation projects. Day 6 Bullock-cart Drive to Pachewar. Explore the village in bullock-drawn carts and stay in a restored fort. Days 7/8 Camel safari Travel to Pushkar and watch the sunset from Savitri temple. Ride camels into the desert. Day 9 Jaipur Guided tour of the ‘Pink City’; visit the City Palace, Palace of the Winds and ride elephants up to the hilltop Amber Palace. Day 10 Delhi Travel by train back to Delhi. Day 11 Fly to the UK.
