SERENGETI SAFARI & ZANZIBAR 14 DAYS – SAVANNAH PLAINS TO THE SPICE ISLAND


On this exhilarating family holiday we track Africa’s greatest wildlife, visiting three of Tanzania’s famous safari parks to search for the ‘Big Five’ (lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhinoceros) in their natural habitat. From the mainland we fly to the exotic ‘Spice Island’ of Zanzibar, where we roam the streets of old Stone Town and unwind beside the Indian Ocean.


ITINERARY


Days 1/2 Overnight flight to Kilimanjaro. Drive to Arusha. Day 3 Lake Manyara Take a game drive through the National Park and watch wildlife flock to the lake’s shallow soda waters. Days 4/6 Serengeti game A series of game drives over three days in search of the ‘Big Five’. Watch cheetah hunting zebra and wildebeest on the great plains, visit the Retima Hippo Pool, see lions and leopards along the Seronera River and discover Maasai rock art at the Moru Kopjies. There is the option for a dawn balloon ride. Day 7 Nutcracker Man Travel through Maasai settlements. Stop and learn more about prehistoric man at Olduvai Gorge. Visit the museum with a local guide. Day 8 Ngorongoro Crater Descend into the world’s largest intact volcanic crater and enjoy views of wildlife. Travel to Karatu. Days 9/10 Stonetown Optional visit to a village orphanage. Fly to Zanzibar and explore the old town. There is the option of a tour of a spice plantation and a visit to Sultan’s Palace. Days 11/12 Tropical beaches Relax on the Indian Ocean coast at Nungwi. Days 13/14 Overnight flight to the UK.
