The Blue Lagoon

LAND OF ICE & FIRE 8 DAYS – GLACIERS AND GEYSERS

Iceland’s volcanic landscape offers a dramatic mix of ice and fire: from snow- covered glaciers and thundering waterfalls to barren lava fields and steaming geysers. As we explore the island we admire its prolific birdlife and sample delicious fresh fish and seafood from the sea. We also find time to unwind in thermal waters and explore the bustling capital, Reykjavik.

ITINERARY

Day 1 Fly to Reykjavik and drive to the blue lagoon to unwind in the thermal waters. Then on to Laugarvatn. Day 2 Glaciers and waterfalls Walk behind the falls at Seljaladsfoss. Explore Thorsmork Nature Reserve. There is the option for local walks and a sauna. Days 3/4 Gullfoss and Geysir Visit three of Iceland’s most famous highlights: Gullfoss Falls, the spouting geysers at Geysir and Thingvellir, home to Europe’s oldest parliament. Day 5 Snaefellsnes Peninsula Explore the wild west coast of Iceland. There is the option to go snowmobiling on the Snaefellsnes Glacier. Day 6 Wildlife spotting Cruise between the islands off the peninsula hoping to see puffin, cormorant and the elusive white-tailed eagle. Try some fishing and sample the freshly-caught seafood. Travel to Reykjavik. Day 7 Whale-watching Enjoy a free day in Iceland’s capital. There is the option to go whale-watching. Day 8 Fly to the UK.
