TUSCAN ACTIVE ADVENTURE 8 DAYS – TUSCANY WITH A TWIST
This energetic trip explores Tuscany’s hidden gem – the Garfagnana Valley. We combine varied outdoor activities with time to relax by the pool at our beautifully restored Tuscan villa. Kayak on a mountain lake, walk the ‘Cinque Terra’ coastal path, and cycle on the ancient city walls of Lucca. At the end of each day we return to our homely farmhouse and enjoy home-cooked Tuscan cuisine.
ITINERARY
Day 1 Fly to Florence. Transfer to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, a lovingly restored Tuscan farmhouse and working farm. Day 2 Kayak Explore the lovely setting of Lake Pontecosi by kayak. Climb trees in the Buffardello forest Adventure Park and visit the 13th century Verrucole Fortress. Day 3 Coastal walk Travel by train to the Cinque Terre coastal region for walking and the opportunity to sail and swim in clear bays. Day 4 Mountain Hike Day walk in the Apennines with the summit at
1600m offering superb views of the region. Relax at the farmhouse in the afternoon. Day 5 Pisa & Lucca Opt to visit Lucca for a cycle or walk on the medieval city walls; or explore Pisa and see the famous Leaning Tower. Day 6 Cave Adventure Explore the ‘Caves of the Wind’ in the Apuan Alps and visit the castle town of Barga. Day 7 Bike ride An exhilarating 25km bike descent from 1400m Pradarena mountain pass, through medieval villages and back to the farmhouse. Day 8 Fly to UK.
