Day 1 Fly to Luxor. Day 2 Karnak Travel by horse-drawn calesh to Karnak Temple, which dates from 2,000 BC. Explore the myriad of chambers and temples and gaze across the Sacred Lake. Afternoon free to explore Luxor. Day 3 Valley of the Kings Cross the Nile; explore the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, Egypt’s only female Pharaoh. Visit the Valley of the Kings, famous for Tutankhamen’s tomb. Then we have the chance to enjoy an adventurous donkey trek past farmland and mud brick villages before we drive to Aswan. Day 4 Abu Simbel Visit rock- hewn temples (optional) or enjoy Aswan’s bustling spice markets. Dine with a local Nubian family. Day 5 St. Simeon’s Monastery Camel trek to one of the largest monasteries in Egypt. Explore the West Bank of the Nile on these mighty ‘ships of the desert’. Overnight train to Cairo. Day 6 Pyramids Visit the Giza Pyramids, one of the seven ancient wonders of the world. Discover the Great Pyramid of Cheops and the Egyptian Museum with 120,000 artefacts, including the extraordinary treasures of Tutankhamen. Day 7 Fly to the UK.
