This family holiday captures the essence of Egyptian life. Staying in simple small family owned hotels, and taking every chance to explore the local markets, we immerse ourselves in everyday Egyptian life. Along the way we visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, sail down the Nile on a traditional felucca and snorkel in the warm waters of the Red Sea. On this holiday a lot of the sightseeing is left optional, giving you the flexibility to do as much or as little as you want.


ITINERARY


Day 1 Fly to Aswan. Drive to the West Bank of the Nile. Day 2 In Aswan Explore the colourful markets. Chance to take a camel-ride to St Simeon’s Monastery and visit a local Nubian family for dinner. Day 3 Abu Simbel This morning you can visit the rock temples of Abu Simbel (optional). Set sail on a traditional felucca boat to Kom Ombo. Day 4 Felucca sailing Sail north towards Luxor. Relax on board the felucca and play some Nubian card games with the crew. Day 5 In Luxor Visit Hatshepsut Temple and discover the Valley of the Kings. Donkey-trek through farmland and along irrigation channels to watch the sun set over the Nile (optional). Day 6 The Red Sea Drive to the town of Safaga. Day 7 Safaga Enjoy a free day. There is the oportunity to take a boat trip and snorkel among the coral reefs in the Red Sea. Day 8 Cairo Drive to Cairo. Day 9 Pyramids Discover the Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza. Visit the Egyptian Museum, home to momentous antiquities including Tutankhamen’s famous mask. Day 10 Fly to the UK.
